Lenten Coloring Posters (2016)

Lenten Coloring Posters (2016)

We created this set of 9 coloring posters for Lent (2016), and they were inspired by scripture taken from the Narrative Lectionary passages for that year. These 9 original, meditative coloring poster illustrations each have a word in the middle - and for this series of posters, the word corresponds to a theme picked from the Narrative Lectionary.

Below we have listed the scripture that goes with each of the posters:

  • Poster 1 – Welcome: Mark 9:30-37
  • Poster 2 – Give: Mark 10:17-31
  • Poster 3 – Serve: Mark 10:32-52
  • Poster 4 – Listen: Mark 12:13-17
  • Poster 5 – Love: Mark 12:28-44
  • Poster 6 – Watch! Mark 13:1-8, 24-37
  • Poster 7 – Risk: Mark 14:3-9
  • Poster 8 – Take. Eat: Mark 14:22-42 / Forsaken: Mark 15:16-39
  • Poster 9 – Go! Tell! Mark 16:1-8

Using These Posters

While these posters were created for the Narrative Lectionary's Lenten texts from Year 2 of the lectionary, they can really be used at any time because each poster focuses on a story about the life and ministry of Jesus. During Lent, as we all go on our personal and collective journeys, these posters guide you through stories of Jesus and focus on some of the ways that God calls us to live and follow in the way of Jesus. They could also be used as a communal art project for your Sunday School classes, church small groups or families or other events.

Displaying your finished work(s) of art: this size of posters can very easily be framed and displayed in your community's space. We had one pastor from Freeport, Illinois who shared on our blog about the simple process he used to take these Lenten posters and create a beautiful art-filled hallway in his church. You can read about it here.
